The last few times I've been out , whether I was racing or out helping some friends with their cars it seems it takes a long time to pull the slick tire lane . At Salute the Troops I was running in 12.0 index and in the first two time trials I got way too hot and started filling sick. Be it I did spend all week working on the car getting it ready and that probally didn't help.... But the point I'm trying to make is most the people running in the slick's lane are fast enough they have to have fire jackets and be wearing pants . These cloths aren't real HOT WEATHER Friendly and it would really help if it didn't become a spend 45 minutes to an hour waiting to maybe get to race .
This is just one racer's opinion though.

I have to agree. While I am not a driver, I am my sons only crew member. He is what many people call a"Big 'O Boy". I have noticed there a quite a few "Big O Boy's" in our sport. Sitting in a car in 100+ degree day is quite hot. Brian will come back to the pits soaking wet after a run. Brian and I almost go through 24 bottles of water in a 5 PM to 12 Midnight race. Plus we have a snowcone. We want to make sure nither of us get sick. If nothing else please tell the drivers they can get out of the car if there is something going on. Another idea is instead of 10 staging lanes wide just do 4 or 5 so that the cars move faster. That way you could get in the car when you are 4 or 5 cars back, while if you are in a 10 wide you can wait 20 minutes or more before being called easily even if you are the first car in a lane. Drivers be sure to get that liquid through you on those hot days. Heat stroke can sneak up on you very quickly. Us racers must be carzy to be out in that heat just to race. Steve

Heat stroke is nothing to joke around about. It's only a short time from overheating to dying, and it's not funny. My ex went out to sunbathe and at the end of it she got too hot and passed out. It was much cooler than it is right now. I've been staying home from the races for this exact reason and will continue to do so. The guy is trying to keep his loved one alive, it's not a JOKE.
