I agree with you Jeff. Been plugging them for years and never felt it was unsafe at all to use them.

That was much more than i expected to get!!! you guys have been very helpful with the advice and i plan to have the tire patched and buy some plugs to stick in the trailer just in case i pick something up at the track. The tire is on weld wheels and has screws in the bead, can any tire shop fix it or should i just dismount and patch by hand to be safe? do any of you have yours balanced?

I would take the screws out for the tire places. I have screws in my bead. If you have the means to dismount go for it. I have mine balanced when they were new have not since then even with the plug in it. The skinny front ones seems to be more critical of balance then the rear ones. I have a plug in that one and had to get it balanced.
When I get them rotated (turned around - Inside / Outside) Take the outside and rotate them to the inside. I will have them balanced again.
